Materials: Ponge 5, dyes for silk, flat bristle brush, kitchen salt
Stretch and secure the silk to a frame. Using a flat wide paintbrush, apply coloured spots, allowing them to partially overlap. The wet dye will blend with the other dyes. Continue until the entire scarf is filled with colour. Start to create additional lines using a brush and water. In this case, we mostly made spirals. The water partially washes away the dye and also causes the dye to blend even more. Sprinkle grains of coarse salt onto the still-wet dye (do not use too much); the salt will start to soak up the moisture in the dye. After a certain period of time, decorative patterns with lighter edges start to appear where the salt has been applied. The salted area takes on an overall brighter lustre. After the silk has dried, use a wide paintbrush or hand brush to carefully brush away the salt. Follow the package instructions to fix the dye to the scarf.
