To felt larger decorations, you can use a polystyrene base that you can either buy ready-made or cut out from polystyrene. Before starting, please read the article on needle felting appliqué moulds.
Materials: Polystyrene wreath (can be found at the florist); wool; felting needle; marker; ribbon
Draw the pattern you wish to have onto the wreath (in our case, a star). Tear off wool fibres.
By punching with the needle, start filling in the pattern with yellow wool. Start at the edges of the star and work towards the centre.
Gradually fill in all the stars. If you want to hang the wreath in the middle of an area, make stars on the opposite side as well.
Fill the area around the stars with dark blue wool and felt using a felting needle.
Do not completely cover the wreath with wool; let the white base show through in areas to create the illusion of clouds.
The finished wreath must have all of the fibres firmly interlocked with one another so that they cannot be separated from the felt.
Make a decorative bow.
Tie the ribbon.
Attach the ribbon to the wreath and add a loop for hanging the wreath.
