Valentine’s Day is a celebration filled with symbols of love – hearts and clear, vivid reds. This napkin featuring strawberries and other bright red fruits literally call out to be used as a Valentine’s Day decoration.
The materials you’ll need are: A polystyrene heart that can be bought from a florist or arts and crafts shop; napkins; decoupage glue; flat brush; scissors; pencil; ribbons; artificial fruit.
First trace the heart onto the napkin.
Cut out the heart, leaving a 2 cm border so you will be able to cover the entire surface of the polystyrene heart. Cut notches into the border.
Brush hobby and craft glue onto the heart. Separate the top ply from the napkin and adhere this to the heart.
Carefully even out the napkin and glue on the cut tabs, having them overlap one another. Use a brush and a little glue to help. Cover up any bare spaces with a pattern cut from the napkin. Do the same if the napkin on the heart accidentally tears. After the entire heart dries, brush glue over the entire surface once more to fix the pattern in place.
Use some wire to help you tie a decorative bow.
Trim the heart with a bow and fruits that are the same size or smaller than the ones depicted on the napkin.
The finished heart can be tied to a present as an ornament or can be used as a Valentine’s Day decoration.
