Wire knitting and crocheting are very interesting ways to create jewellery. This original bracelet is surprisingly easy to make.

Wire crocheting
1 What will you need? Different coloured glass beads; a crochet hook; a transparent rubber band for putting on the beaded bracelet; wire suitable for crocheting (0.16 – 0.20 mm). Experiment a bit in selecting a wire. Try out which manufacturer’s wire you will be able to work with best. The wire has to be strong enough so it will not break. You can buy it at a hardware store or crafts shop.

2 How to: You will crochet with beads, so first the wire needs to be pre-beaded. Thread the end of the wire through the last bead repeatedly until it is caught inside the bead. This creates a strong, smooth ending and also marks the starting point of your work. Very close to the bead, bend the wire to create a small loop and start to crochet a row. Leave the beads by the spool and always keep three to five beads ready in your hand. Keep the beads in place with your index finger to prevent them from slipping back to the spool.

3 Gradually add the beads after the stitches. Chain 8 to 10 stitches. Crochet long stitches for the following rows. Use a loose stitch and do not worry about inconsistency as this adds charm to the bracelet.

4 Add beads into the long loops and after the stitches.

5 Measure your wrist to see how long the bracelet should be.
